Artist Statement:
I explore the hybridization of reality and representation in response to the consequences of the
digital age and its conditioning of human existence. Assembling daily objects and
imagery, my work blends physical and virtual, natural and artificial, and real and simulated without
a clear distinction between where one begins and the other ends. Our lives are massively encroached by digital technology,
which leads me to question, whether have representations become more important than the ‘real
thing’. I use the sense of fracture,
aggression, and conflict to disintegrate and show the cracks in between the continuous flow of our
every day that is saturated in technology. Distortion in my work not only appears as a procedural or an aesthetic practice, but also in
the form of an intervention in the physical space. It invites the viewer to experience through both
visual and physical engagement of looking.
My work includes video, audio-visual performance, augmented reality, interactive digital video
installation, print, and sculpture. The incorporation of different materials and forms allows my work
to sit at the edges of many disciplines, giving me more possibilities to find a comprehensive artistic
language that reflects contemporary reality.
